Presents research relevant to all aspects of conjugation chemistry and biochemistry, including the preparation, characterization, and properties (both chemical and biological) of molecular conjugates. The journal encourages application of modern techniques of chemical analysis to problems in conjugation chemistry.
Bioelectrochemistry is an international journal devoted to electrochemical principles in biology and biological aspects of electrochemistry. It publishes experimental and theoretical papers dealing with: Electrified interfaces; Electric and magnetic field effects; Bioenergetics and signal transduction; Biomembranes and model membranes; Applications in medicine and biotechnology.
Biogerontology has now developed a solid scientific base with respect to the understanding of the phenomenon of aging. A spectrum of new and innovative strategies and approaches are being increasingly applied to modulate the process of aging at the level of cells, tissues, organs and organisms. Biogerontology represents this step in research which aims primarily at achieving healthy old age accompanied by improved longevity. The focus is on attempts to understand, prevent, cure or minimize age-related impairments.
The science of healthy old age requires its own platform to bring forward new ideas, and to encourage the scientific publication of innovative and bold experimental manipulations in this regard.
The purpose of Bioinorganic Chemistry and Applications is to publish original research in the form of articles, notes, letters and reviews in the general field of bioinorganic chemistry and its applications. Its scope includes all aspects of bioinorganic chemistry, including bioorganometallic chemistry and applied bioinorganic chemistry. The journal welcomes papers relating to metalloenzymes and model compounds, metal-based drugs, biomaterials, biocatalysis and bioelectronics, metals in biology and medicine, metals toxicology and metals in the environment, metal interactions with biomolecules and spectroscopic applications.
Biology of the Cell publishes original research articles and reviews on all aspects of cellular and molecular biology, development and cell physiology. Of particular interest are contributions directed towards understanding structure-function relationships with respect to basic cell and tissue functions, development, neurobiology, immunology, microbiology and protistology and plant biology.
Biomacromolecules focuses on interdisciplinary investigations exploring the interactions of macromolecules with biological systems and their environments as well as biological approaches to the design of polymeric materials. The journal covers sustainable chemistry, monomers and polymers based on natural and renewable resources, metabolism of polymers and polymer degradation products, polymer conjugates, in vivo and in vitro biocatalysis, biomacromolecular assembly, biomimetics, biomineralization, bioprocessing, and biorecycling.
Biomedical Microdevices is an interdisciplinary periodical devoted to all aspects of research in the diagnostic and therapeutic applications of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), microfabrication, and nanotechnology.
General subjects of interest include the design, characterization, testing, modeling and clinical validation of microfabricated systems, and their integration on-chip and in larger functional units. The specific interests of the Journal include systems for neural stimulation and recording, bioseparation technologies such as nanofilters and electrophoretic equipment, miniaturized analytic and DNA identification systems, biosensors, and microtechnologies for cell and tissue research, tissue engineering, cell transplantation and the controlled release of drugs and therapeutic proteins.
Contributions reporting on fundamental and applied investigations of the material science, biochemistry, and physics of biomedical microdevices are encouraged. A non-exhaustive list of fields of interest includes: biochemical modification, with reference to non-specific protein adsorption, and the active immobilization and patterning of proteins on microfabricated surfaces; the dynamics of fluids in micro-and-nano-fabricated channels; the electromechanical and structural response of microfabricated systems; the interactions of microdevices with cells and tissues, including biocompatibility and biodegradation studies; the variation of the characteristics of the systems as function of the microfabrication parameters.
BioMetals is an international, multidisciplinary journal devoted to the rapid publication of fundamental advances in both basic and applied research into the role of metal ions in biology, biochemistry and medicine.
The Journal aims to provide a forum for new research and clinical results on the structure and function of metal ions, metal chelates, siderophores, metal-containing proteins and biominerals in all biosystems. It is expected that BioMetals will stimulate cross-fertilization between medicine, biochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, microbiology, cell biology, chemistry and plant physiology.
